Our Mission Statement

The MaxDefense mission is two fold. First, we provide a clear and concise vehicle for you to defend yourself. In addition and perhaps more profoundly, we enable you to be empowered in your daily life, a byproduct that comes from knowing you are in control of your own personal safety and self defense.

Each student has a unique starting point and set of capabilities. MaxDefense is experienced in customizing training experiences to meet each student's goals, taking into account the student's age, gender, physical stature, profession/daily activities, self defense experience or possible exposure to past violence, and athleticism. We train each individual as an individual and yet we are committed to the same result for each student:  the ability to defend yourself when needed and your increased personal empowerment in your daily life.

MaxDefense instructors are superior at bringing out the personal best in each student's quest to master the skills of self defense.  This is because MaxDefense instructors are selected based on their expertise in self defense skills, as well as their abilities as leaders, teachers, and motivators. Before training students, we interview them to learn their unique reasons for deciding to take control of their personal safety and we optimize their training results by applying student-specific motivation. MaxDefense instructors elicit top performance from students through encouragement, as well as by putting forth challenges in a healthy and rewarding environment.

Once you have completed our training, we are always here to support you.  We will make ourselves available to train your friends and family in a personal setting.  We will also, at your request and free of charge, provide communication to members of your community or groups you care about, that will enable them to make the critical decision you made to take charge of their own personal safety.  We trust we have clearly stated our mission and our commitment to your personal safety.  Still, the best route to ensuring you quickly advance to the stage at which you can defend yourself, is by having a personal conversation with you about your goals.  Contact us here.

The connection we have with our students is based on pride and a sense of accomplishment.  Your instructors at MaxDefense view you as a champion in your growth to becoming your own personal protector and soon you will, too.  Being a part of that process is rewarding for those of us here at MaxDefense. Likewise, each and every one of our alumni has felt our commitment and has cherished the sense of being a part of a self defense community.  We look forward to hearing from you!

Walter Gioielli - European Director

We are pleased to have Walter GIOIELLI of the Rough Program join Maxdefense as our European Director. Walter's martial art experience began at the age of 8 and he has not stopped training to better himself as an elite martial artist. He resides in Italy where he is S.O. Infantryman in the Italian Army. His experiences in the Army have brought him to Kosovo, Bosnia, Afghanistan, among others.

Through these experiences Walt's mission became very clear. He wanted to educate people on the ever increasingly violent world and the predators that walk among us. In Walt's own words, "Reading a news-paper, watching TV or talking to other people make us realize that we’re not in a bell glass or within a boundary wall; we think that events always happen to others and never to ourselves or to our families. That is just not true. Frequently laws don’t protect us and justice seems to be somewhere else so we have to fight to preserve what we care about. The World is turning violent and knowing self-defense is the only way to not become prey."

We are proud to have another "brother in arms" join MaxDefense in our mission to educate people in safety and self defense! Please stop and visit Walter along with his staff at www.roughprogram.com
